Exploring west Norfolk… from your armchair

Now that Autumn is here, what could be more cosy than browsing through the shelves of a bookshop before finding a quiet cafe to peruse your purchases over coffee and cake?

Now that summer is over, west Norfolk comes into its own, offering unique experiences and cosy comforts that the Nordic countries call ‘Hygge’.

From long walks on deserted twilight seashores, to pubs with welcoming open fires and hearty food made with locally sourced ingredients, west Norfolk Hygge offers some enchanting ways to spend a free afternoon.

And what could be more hygge than browsing through the shelves of a bookshop before finding a cosy cafe to peruse your purchases?

West Norfolk is blessed with a number of independent bookshops.
Some selling new books, some selling pre-loved volumes and others offering a mix.
Most of them will have a section featuring local authors, or focusing on Norfolk’s countryside, history, and folklore.

Whether you are planning your next visit, want to learn more about local myths and legends, or discover local writers, west Norfolk’s independent bookshops are an excellent place to start.

These seven independent bookshops are just our pick, but you may discover your own favourites!
