Looking for holiday inspiration? From traditional fairgrounds to blooming tulip fields, and water ski racing to enchanting light trails, we have rounded-up some of the most unique and exciting events set to take place in west Norfolk in 2024. Please be aware that the events featured below are planned to take place in 2024. Events can be cancelled or postponed, and dates can be changed (especially far in advance), so please check ahead with event organisers before setting out.

Winter Swan Feeds

Until 29th February 2024

Start the new year with a visit to WWT Welney Wetland Centre and experience one of their Winter Wild Swan Feeds.

Listen to an introduction and a live commentary as the guide makes their way to feed all of the excited swans and ducks lined up at the reserve. Enjoy close-up views of whooper and mute swans from the comfort of a centrally-heated hide. After the event, there is an opportunity to ask the guide any questions you have.

Open everyday until 29th February 2024. 12:00pm and 3:30pm daily. Floodlit feeds at 6:30pm on Saturdays and Sundays only.

King’s Lynn Mart

The 818th King’s Lynn Mart is set to return in February 2024. The colourful event traditionally opens the travelling season and brings traditional fairground rides, stalls and fun-filled family entertainment to the Tuesday Market Place.

The historic square welcomes thousands of visitors for 10 days which includes a special Children’s Day, where many rides and funhouses are discounted.

King’s Lynn Town Guides

April – October 2024 [Dates to be confirmed]

The King’s Lynn Town Guides provide fantastic guided walking tours around King’s Lynn.

Professionally trained volunteer guides provide a detailed history of the historic town and their Regular Walks, which include their ‘Historic Lynn’ and ‘A Medieval New Town’ walking tours, take place from Easter until the end of October.

The Guides also offer a range of specialist walks which take place on Monday evenings during June and July. They cover interesting topics including ‘King’s Lynn’s Dark History – Conflicts, Murders and Executions’.

Any of the guided walks can be arranged for private groups at any date or time that suits you throughout the year. They also offer bespoke walks tailored for a theme or length to suit your interests.

Tulips for Tapping

Tulips for Tapping is a highly anticipated event that takes place between late April – early May each year. The huge tulip field by Belmont Nurseries is a rare opportunity to take pictures and walk through a bright and vibrant UK tulip field as well as support the local charity, The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House.

The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House provide highly skilled palliative care, comfort and compassion to terminally ill patients in west Norfolk. They also offer support, care and advice to their carers and families.  

The money from the ticket sales for Tulips for Tapping goes to the Norfolk Hospice charity. In 2023, they raised an outstanding £140,268 which can help them provide crucial care to patients in need.

The Hanseatic Festival of Watersports

A weekend of speedboat and high-octane water ski racing, jet ski demonstrations and offshore water boats on the River Great Ouse in King’s Lynn.

The Hanseatic Festival of Watersports is a free event and witnesses the return of Formula 1, 2 and 3 water-ski racing, along with jet skiers and OCRDA on the water, at the end of May. Visitors can watch the action from the King’s Lynn quayside whilst also enjoying the fun family activities and live music on offer.

Festival Too

Late June – Early July 2024 [Dates to be confirmed]

The month of June marks the start of the summer festival season in King’s Lynn. The annual Festival Too event provides three weekends of free live music and family fun to the King’s Lynn town centre between June – July. Perfect for the whole family to enjoy, line-ups include well-known acts from past and present as well as local artists in the East of England. For 2023, Festival Too welcomed a huge line-up of stars including Example, Feeder and Newton Faulkner.

King’s Lynn Festival

July 2024 [Dates to be confirmed]

Don’t miss King’s Lynn Festival which takes place July in and around the historic town. Now going into its 73rd year, the festival invites a host of world-renowned classical musicians and performers to take to the stage in many striking historic venues including King’s Lynn Minster, Town Hall and St. George’s Guildhall, the oldest working theatre in the UK.

Sandringham Flower Show

Towards the end of July, horticultural lovers flock to west Norfolk to visit the very famous Sandringham Flower Show. Set in the outstanding surroundings of Sandringham Estate, the one-day event attracts over 20,000 visitors each year including our Royal Patron, who traditionally attends the show each year.

The 141st Sandringham Flower Show will be taking place on Wednesday 31st July 2024 and welcoming many of the region’s leading nurseries and horticultural specialists. There will also be display gardens, over 200 trade stands, a craft marquee, children’s entertainment, and more.

Heritage Open Day

Sunday 8th September 2024

Heritage Open Day is the most popular heritage and culture event in the historic town of King’s Lynn, attracting visitors from far and wide. The event invites you to have a sneak peek inside buildings not normally open to the public including Red Mount Chapel, Clifton House and the underground WWII Air Raid Shelters on the Tuesday Market Place.

The jam-packed event also includes colourful demonstrations, children’s activities, tower tours, vintage bus services and the return of the ‘Classic Car Day’, where vintage vehicles of all makes and ages are proudly displayed on the historic marketplace.

Deepdale Festival

Deepdale Festival & Rooms host a brilliant weekend of music at the end of September each year. The small Deepdale Festival invites a superb line-up of over 40 high quality music acts to perform across three stages. Acts in 2023 included The Leisure Society, Morganway, India Electric Co, and Polly Paulusma. Local beers and ciders as well as delicious street food is served in the Courtyard and Orchard at Burnham Deepdale.

The REAL Halloween

October 2024 [Dates to be confirmed]

Set in Bradmoor Woods, The Real Halloween is a unique and magical celebration of nature in Autumn. The event is fun for all the family and offers live music, cosy log fires, a No-New-Plastic fancy dress parade, children activity workshops, storytelling, and much more. There is also a chance for little ones to meet the Fairy King and Queen, have a go at traditional Halloween games and sent a postcard from the Pixie Post Office.

Fairyland Trust, a charity dedicated to welcoming children and families to nature, also organise the annual Fairy Fair which will be taking place at Bradmoor Woods on Sunday 26th and Monday 27th May 2024.

Fawkes in The Walks

Fawkes in the Walks is a lively free firework display in King’s Lynn, fun for all the family! The popular event brings thousands of local residents, and visitors from near and far, to The Walks to enjoy a dazzling firework display, fairground rides, children’s activities and live entertainment.

Luminate Sandringham

Luminate Sandringham is a captivating light trail that takes you through the Royal Parkland of Sandringham Estate. Immerse yourself in a mesmerising mile long trail and expect fabulous light play, ambient music and enchanting scenes full of wonder and intrigue to delight and enthral your senses.

Hunstanton Christmas Day Swim

Hunstanton’s famous Christmas Day Swim attracts many brave swimmers (often in vibrant fancy dress!) to brave the December waters and go for a breathtaking swim at Hunstanton beach.
