The Coronation of King Charles III and the Queen Consort takes place on Saturday 6th May 2023. To celebrate this historic occasion and mark the start of the Caroline (or Carolean) age, there will be many fantastic events happening across west Norfolk during the bank holiday weekend.
From live entertainment and music to outdoor picnics and fairground rides, here are some of the best ways to celebrate King Charles III’s Coronation in west Norfolk.
Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th April 2023. The Coronation Market & Fayre will be taking place on 29th and 30th April at Walpole St. Peter Church. Over 30 stalls will be selling a wide range of gifts and food items inside the church. You will also find books, puzzles, CDs, DVDs and games in the outdoor marquees.
Saturday 6th May 2023. You are invited to join in the celebrations at King’s Staithe Square on Saturday 6th May 2023. A big screen will be broadcasting the Coronation Service from Westminster Abbey. There will also be activities for children in the square organised by the Learning and Engagement Officer at Stories of Lynn museum. After the broadcast, there will be live entertainment including music from The Chebbs and fireworks to end the night.
Saturday 6th May 2023. Enjoy a Live Screening in the Royal Parkland of the Coronation broadcast from London. Adventure in the Children’s Play Area or explore nature on a trail around the woodlands. Enjoy a ride on the Helter Skelter or Carousel at the Vintage Fair with local Bands playing throughout the day and Churros Van. Pre-order a Picnic Afternoon Tea to enjoy in the Royal Parkland as you watch the celebrations.
Saturday 6th May 2023. Screening of the build-up and Coronation Ceremony of His Majesty The King & Her Majesty The Queen Consort and family-friendly entertainment including two afternoon sets from The Chebbs, also a Pirate Magic show and Big Summer Blowout covering some popular classic children’s songs.
Saturday 6th May 2023. Celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III at Bawsey Country Park on Saturday 6th May 2023. There will be fun and games for all the family as well as hot and cold refreshments available from The Hub Café.
Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May 2023. There will be weekend celebrations at No. Twenty 9 Bar and Restaurant in Burnham Market to celebrate the coronation of His Majesty The King Charles III including a live screening, special cocktails and music performances.
Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May 2023. Come and raise a glass with us as we commemorate this momentous occasion together! You won’t want to miss the live music in our beautiful garden, where you can soak up the festive atmosphere and mingle with other guests.
Saturday 6th – Monday 8th May 2023. Join in our royal garden hunt to celebrate the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, from 6-8th May 2023.
Sunday 7th May 2023. Let’s celebrate the coronation of the King and join together to enjoy a family friendly afternoon.
Sunday 7th May 2023. More music and entertainment on stage, along with activities for children between noon and 5pm.
Sunday 7th May 2023. There will be a ‘bring your own picnic’ area, music, children’s fairground rides, street food, fancy dress, face painting, Escape Room in a Box, and decorated cake competitions.
Sunday 7th May 2023. North Wootton Village Hall will be holding a Coronation Big Lunch between 11am and 5:30pm on Sunday 7th May. There will be live music, face painting, village fete style games, competitions, and food and drink.
Sunday 7th May 2023. Local band 2nd Sunset will be playing on the patio on 7th May over the Kings Coronation bank holiday weekend.
Monday 8th May 2023. Join the King’s Lynn Town Guides on Monday 8th May (Bank Holiday) for a series of FREE tours of King’s Lynn’s royal history, ranging from the 12th Century to King Charles III.
April – October 2023. Marking the year of the coronation, a collection of watercolours painted by His Majesty The King will go on display from April – October 2023 at Sandringham Estate. The unique exhibition focuses entirely on scenes and landscapes from around the UK.
