This year, Queen Elizabeth II becomes the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee. There will be many Jubilee events and activities taking place across west Norfolk to celebrate Her Majesty’s historic 70-year reign. The nation will be celebrating the Jubilee with a four-day bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd June to Sunday 5th June 2022.  Please find below an incredible line-up of events planned to mark this special occasion in west Norfolk:

Street Picnic, Downham Market Town Square

Thursday 2nd June 2022, 12-2pm.?? Join the party to celebrate the Jubilee and make sure to bring a picnic!

Live Music Festival, Hunstanton

Thursday 2nd June 2022, 12-8:45pm. Live music festival on the lower green at Hunstanton.

Children’s activities, live music, fireworks and the national beacon lighting in King’s Lynn

Thursday 2nd June 2022, from 4pm at King Staithe Square in King’s Lynn.

Afternoon tea and royal talk, Downham Market Town Hall

Thursday 2nd June 2022, 2:30pm. There will be an afternoon tea and royal talk at Downham Market Town Hall.

Town Crier reads Jubilee Proclamation, Downham Market

Thursday 2nd June 2022, 2pm. The Town Crier will be reading the Jubilee Proclamation at the Clock on Downham Market Town Square.

Lighting of the Jubilee Beacon, St. Edmund’s Church

Thursday 2nd June 2022, from 9pm. St Edmund’s Church in Downham Market will be taking part in the national celebrations – local choir Singers Inspired will sing ‘Song for the Commonwealth’, Bugler will play ‘Majesty’ to introduce the lighting of the Beacon.

Town Crier, Brancaster

Thursday 2nd June 2022, from 1pm at Brancaster. Richard Roberts will be proclaiming the celebrations open at Brancaster Village Hall and Brancaster Staithe and Deepdale Village Hall.

‘Songs of Praise’, Downham Market Town Hall

Thursday 2nd June 2022, 6:30pm. ‘Songs of Praise’ in Downham Market Town Hall.

Barrow Common Beacon Lighting

Thursday 2nd June 2022. Beacon Common. Bagpiper and beacon lighting followed by choir and community singing.

Jubilee Fun Day, Hunstanton Town Hall

Friday 3rd June 2022, from 10am. Coffee morning and raffle followed by the Mayor’s Jubilee Quiz, Tea dance and singalong.

Queen’s Jubilee Parade, King’s Lynn

Friday 3rd June 2022 at 11:45am. Queen’s Jubilee Parade will march through King’s Lynn, led by bagpipers and will include cadets, guides, scouts and St John Ambulance. It will be the largest parade to ever march through King’s Lynn. There will be more live music on stage in King’s Staithe Square and activities for children.

Double keyboard concert, Brancaster Church

Friday 3rd June 2022. Light refreshments with coffee and tea at followed by a double keyboard concert at noon to 12.30 with Simon Bower and Matthew Preston.

Tennis Fun Activities, Burnham Deepdale

Friday 3rd June 2022 from 9:30am – 12:30pm. Tennis Fun Activities for 4 -16 year-olds. All the family is welcome, and refreshments will be provided.

Children’s Art Competition, Brancaster

Create a portrait, picture, or work of art to represent HM the Queen. Three age groups. Each child’s name and age to be attached. All entries to be delivered to Brancaster Staithe Village Hall between 3-5pm on Thursday 2nd June will be exhibited in the hall from 2pm on Friday 3rd June with results announced at 3pm.

‘A Queen is Crowned’ film, Alive Corn Exchange

Saturday 4th June 2022. 17. Alive Corn Exchange will open its doors for free entry to watch a film about the Coronation in 1953, called A Queen is Crowned.

Platinum Jubilee Gala, Hunstanton Town Hall

Saturday 4th June 2022 at 7:30pm. Platinum Jubilee Gala at Hunstanton Town Hall.

Brancaster Village Show

Saturday 4th June 2022 from 10:30am. Featuring a scarecrow competition, bake off and flower and crafts. The show will be followed by a tea and screenings of The Derby and Party from the Palace in the 71 Club at 6.00pm.

Jubilee Picnic and Fun Day, King’s Lynn

Sunday 5th June 2022. Jubilee picnic and fun day, in partnership with the King’s Lynn Lions and Radio West Norfolk, at King’s Lynn Walks.

National Trust “Day at the Seaside”, Brancaster Beach

Sunday 5th June 2022, 1-5pm. Kite flying, rounders, and a sandcastle building competition at Brancaster Beach.

Jubilee Fun Day, Downham Market

Sunday 5th June 2022 from 12pm. Bring a picnic or visit the Jubilee Café in the Town Hall. Enjoy children’s fun fair rides, traditional games, children’s crafts and Jubilee Escape Room.

Deepdale Flower Celebration “Decades in Flowers”

Thursday 2nd June to Sunday 5th June 2022. Come and wonder at the beautiful floral designs gracing the historic church at Burnham Deepdale.

Brancaster Women’s Exhibition, Brancaster Village Hall

Thursday 2nd June to Sunday 5th June 2022. Brancaster Women’s Exhibition will celebrate the contributions of women in Brancaster Parish and will document and honour women from a wide range of backgrounds.
