Clifton House,King's Lynn
Probably the finest surviving merchant's town house in England, Grade I-listed Clifton House is a spectacular family home in the middle of town, open for guided tours a few times a year. As well as Tudor, Stuart and Georgian interiors and a magnificent staircase by Henry Bell, the tour includes the famous Elizabethan tower with its Jacobean murals and spectacular views. The tour lasts approx. 1.5 to 2 hours and is lead by one of the owners, Dr Simon Thurley and Dr Anna Keay. Advance bookings only via Historic Houses website. Tea and cake included in ticket price. Please note: due to the historic nature of this building there is very limited disabled access.
