Getting to west Norfolk couldn’t be simpler with Norwich International and London Stansted both providing good public transport and road links to west Norfolk. Norwich is approximately 1hrs drive London Stansted airport is approximately 1.5 hours’ drive. London Heathrow, Gatwick and East Midlands airports are each around 2.5 hours’ drive.

By Bus (Coach)

Long Distance Buses

First Bus services run to King’s Lynn from Norwich and Peterborough. If you’re coming from Norwich then the X1 is a great way to see the rest of Norfolk on your way to west Norfolk. National Express Coaches run to both Norwich and Peterborough from London, Birmingham, and other parts of the country.

Local Buses

Once you’ve reached King’s Lynn local bus services will take you to other parts of west Norfolk. The 37 takes you down to Watlington and Downham Market, whilst the Coastliner 34/34/36 take you along the coast. Some places may require walking or a taxi to reach if you’re visiting a more rural part of west Norfolk.

National Trains

Great Northern railway operates services from London King’s Cross to Downham Market and King’s Lynn – hourly to King’s Lynn (half hourly at peak times) with average journey time 1 hr 40 mins (East Midlands Trains offer connecting services from the Midlands and the North via Peterborough and Ely).

London: From King’s Cross (St.Pancras) catch the great northern train to King’s Lynn via Cambridge.

Local Trains

West Norfolk (King’s Lynn, Watlington, and Downham Market) can be accessed from the rest of Norfolk by greater anglia trains changing at Ely. From Sheringham, Cromer, Great Yarmouth, and Reedham change at Norwich and head to Ely. At Ely change for King’s Lynn.

International Trains

Coming from Europe? Great! It’s just one train from London St.Pancras. Follow the signs for National Rail King’s Cross. The train goes directly from King’s Cross to King’s Lynn. It takes just two trains to get here from Paris, Lille, and Brussells.

Stansted: Follow signs for Stansted station then Greater Anglia train to Cambridge, change at Cambridge to Great Northern to King’s Lynn and Downham Market.
Norwich Airport (Norwich): 20 Minute taxi to Norwich Station. Greater Anglia train to Ely, change at Ely to Great Northern to King’s Lynn and Downham Market.
Harwich: Greater Anglia Harwich to Manningtree, Manningtree to Ipswich, Ipswich to Cambridge, then Great Northern to King’s Lynn
Dover: Taxi or walk (1.5 miles) to the station then Southeastern Rail Dover to St.Pancras/King’s Cross. Walk to King’s Cross (2 minutes), then great northern to King’s Lynn.

By Boat (Ferry)

The Wash, West Norfolk.

The nearest ferry port is Harwich International Port (approx 2.5 hours’ drive). Stena Line operates car and passenger ferries from Hook of Holland to Harwich. From Harwich you can either drive or catch the train to west Norfolk from Harwich International Station adjacent to the port.

P&O Ferries

P&O Ferries link Rotterdam and Zeebrugge to The Port of Hull, whilst also linking Calais and Dunkirk to Dover. Hull is approximately 2.5 hours’ drive. Meanwhile Dover is well connected to west Norfolk by train.
