West Norfolk is ideal cycling country – whether you bring your own or hire a bike locally, and there’s a wealth of cycle routes criss-crossing the whole area, often following traffic-free paths and traffic-calmed roads to provide extra peace of mind for the cyclist.
For the serious tourer, the National Cycle Network route runs right through West Norfolk, whilst from King’s Lynn northwards, the Norfolk Coast Cycleway follows the same route along quiet lanes through the heart of the countryside to Holkham, then continues along the coast as far as Cromer. In the past year, a series of shorter, circular routes have been developed along the Norfolk Coast Cycleway, offering a choice of day and half-day trips for those who want to take things easy!
And for the less adventurous but prepared to “give it a go”, why not hire a bicycle when you get here.
At AE Wallis in Heacham you can hire all the equipment and venture out on one of the suggested routes. Alternatively there is a bike hire service in Burnham Deepdale – and the northern area of west Norfolk is supported by the Wheel Travel service too.
