Father’s Day in the UK falls on Sunday 18th June 2023. Celebrate this special day and treat your dad, grandfather or father figure to a memorable day out or weekend away in west Norfolk.

For Outdoorsy Dads

Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside! Looking for a bucket and spade adventure this Father’s Day? Head over to the Victorian seaside resort of Hunstanton. Hunstanton has all the traditional seaside attractions including amusements, crazy golf, and donkey rides. The quieter Old Hunstanton is the ideal location for long coastal walks and to catch spectacular sunsets over The Wash.

Get closer to nature this Father’s Day and visit one of the many wonderful nature reserves on offer in west Norfolk. You will find the excellent RSPB reserves at Titchwell and Snettisham, Holkham National Nature Reserve at Holkham Estate, and WWT Welney Wetland Centre in The Fens.

Is your dad an avid gardener? Take a trip to West Acre Gardens, a lovely old walled garden with extensive display gardens. Visit the garden centre, go on a guided Lavender Tour and dine in the Lavender Lounge at Norfolk Lavender in Heacham. A little further afield, you will find Gooderstone Water Gardens, a unique and tranquil attraction for all garden lovers.

West Norfolk is home to many fantastic wildlife parks and working farms including Pensthorpe, Snettisham Park and Watatunga Wildlife Reserve. Church Farm in Stow Bardolph are hosting a special Father’s Day event on Saturday 18th June 2023. There will be large machinery on the estate including tractors and harvesters for families to learn more about (and even sit in!).

For History-Loving Dads

Do you have a big history fan in the family? From historic religious sites to stately homes and medieval castles to Tudor buildings, there is plenty for all history-lovers to enjoy in west Norfolk this June. Treat dad to a memorable day out to Castle Rising Castle, the medieval fortification in west Norfolk. The charming village of Castle Acre also has a lot to offer history enthusiasts including Norman Castle ruins, Bailey Gate and 12th Century Priory.

Holkham Hall, the 18th century country house, offers educational tractor trailer tours around the deer park. The knowledgeable guides will tell you all about the resident herd of Fallow Deer.

The late medieval Tudor house, Oxburgh Hall, is offering a Past, Present and Future tour where you can learn more about the history of the building as well as the estate’s amazing conservation work.

Sean Scully, the world renowned artist, is staging a major exhibition ‘Smaller Than The Sky’ at Houghton Hall this year until 29th October 2023.

The Royal Family’s much-loved country retreat, Sandringham Estate, is a highlight to any trip to west Norfolk. A collection of watercolours painted by His Majesty The King Charles III are on display inside the ballroom at Sandringham House. The unique exhibition contains a range of scenes and landscapes painted from around the United Kingdom.

For Foodie Dads

There are many restaurants in west Norfolk serving delicious Father’s Day menus on Sunday 18th June 2023.

Book a table at Caley Hall Hotel in Old Hunstanton and enjoy a scrumptious Father’s Day lunch or dinner.

There are many live events taking place this Father’s Day weekend in west Norfolk.

The Jolly Sailors pub in Brancaster are hosting a Jolly Ale & Music Festival between Friday 16th and Sunday 18th June 2023.

There will be live music in The Walks Bandstand in King’s Lynn by March Brass 2000 on Sunday 18th June 2023, 2:00pm – 4:00pm.

Celebrate the music of Mr Barry White this Father’s Day. The Let the Music Play concert style show will be taking place on Sunday 18th June 2023 at Princess Theatre in Hunstanton.

Enjoy glittering costumes, dazzling dance routines and outstanding music as the Alive Corn Exchange brings The Magic of Motown to King’s Lynn on Saturday 17th June 2023.
